That being said I will try to be as objective as posible when I review their fist single from the upcoming album "I´m With You" due to be released on August 30th 2011.
Given that it´s been a long time from the relase of their last material in 2006, to say that expectations where high is putting it mildly. I might have overhyped this for my own good.
The main reason I´m doing this TRACK PICK is the release of the video for the single this past week, you can check it out below.

The track starts off really promising with a familiar groove thanks to an amazing bass line from Flea and funky beats by Chad Smith (Hey there is even some cowbell in there). The verse hits and we see Kiedis has not missed a beat in vocals and then .... we get hit with one off the most generic and unoriginal choruses. Not bad mind you, just terribly plain. This just crushed all this expectation the long hiatus between material and the inital song groove had built.
Once again the band had to find a new guitarist since John Frusciante has quit the group. In comes Josh Klinghoffer to stand at the end off the long line of guitar players for the band. I believe that this has hurt this track since I find myself noticing the lack of freedom the group gives the new band memeber to shine.
In a nut shell is a decent song with a very weak chorus. Sadly this is one of the weakest singles the band has released. I´m still very exited for the upcoming full LP release and will give it a good try.
The band has anounced that they will release the full album for free streaming on August 22 through their official site.
